EVERYTHING BAGEL CHIPS

You can use this method with any bagel of your preference, but we’re partial to the savoury spiciness of our everything bagels. Not only is this recipe reliably delicious, it’s also a handy way to reuse old bagels that have gone stale. For a crunchy snack that goes great with most spreads or by itself, the bagel chips only require a few minutes in the oven after being thinly sliced into rounds and coated with a simple mixture of melted butter, olive oil, and some seasoning.

Active Time: 15 mins

Total Time: 30 mins

Equipment: two baking trays, baking paper, serrated knife, large mixing bowl

YOU’LL NEED:

4 Grizzly everything bagels

4 Tbsp. (57 g) melted butter

2 Tbsp. (28 ml) olive oil

1 tsp. fine salt

¼ tsp. ground black pepper

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 ½ tsp. onion powder

METHOD:

Preheat oven to 175°C fan. Line two baking trays with baking paper; set aside.

On a large cutting board, use a serrated knife to cut each bagel into 3- to 4-mm thick rounds. Place all of the rounds in a large mixing bowl. Scrape all the everything bagel seasoning left on the cutting board into the bowl with the rounds.

Mix melted butter, oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Pour over bagel chips and use your hands to toss the chips in the butter mixture for about 1 minute, making sure all of the chips are evenly coated.

Spread chips evenly across the two baking trays and scatter to ensure they’re all in one even layer. Place in preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes and rotating trays, until chips are golden brown. Set aside to cool and serve with your favorite spread or enjoy them on their own! Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
